FAQ AI: in-form knowledge base
Add an AI-powered FAQ field that answers respondent questions from your knowledge base in real time.
FAQ AI is a field type that embeds a mini AI-powered knowledge base directly inside your form. Respondents can type a question and receive an instant, contextual answer — reducing support tickets and improving the user experience.
How FAQ AI works
- 1Drag the "FAQ AI" element from the Advanced category in the left sidebar onto your form canvas.
- 2In the Properties sidebar, add your knowledge base entries: pairs of questions and answers that the AI will use as source material.
- 3Optionally set a custom system prompt to control the AI's tone and boundaries (e.g., "Only answer questions about our return policy").
- 4Publish the form. When respondents type a question, the AI searches your knowledge base and generates a helpful answer.
Knowledge base best practices
- •Write clear, concise Q&A pairs. The AI performs best with specific, well-structured source material.
- •Cover common questions: shipping, returns, pricing, features, compatibility.
- •Update the knowledge base when policies change — the AI always uses the latest entries.
- •Keep entries focused. One topic per Q&A pair works better than multi-topic entries.
The AI will politely decline to answer questions that fall outside your knowledge base scope.
What it costs
Each respondent question costs 1 AI credit, charged to you as the form owner — respondents never need an account or credits of their own. The credits come from the same monthly allowance as everything else you do with AI, so a busy form and a busy builder draw on one balance.
- •When your account runs out of credits, the assistant stops answering. Respondents see a short note that it is unavailable, can still answer every question, and the form keeps collecting responses as normal.
- •Respondents are never shown your plan, your balance, or an upgrade prompt.
- •There is no separate cap per form: a single form may use your whole monthly allowance if it gets enough questions.
A form you share somewhere busy can spend a lot of credits quickly, and the credits it spends are the same ones your builder needs. Watch the balance in Dashboard → Settings → Usage after publishing a form with FAQ AI to a large audience.
Use FAQ AI at the beginning of support forms to deflect common questions before the respondent even fills out the rest of the form.
