Delayed actions and scheduled automations
Configure time delays between form submission and email delivery for timed follow-ups.
Not every email should fire the instant a form is submitted. Delayed actions let you schedule emails to go out minutes, hours, or even days after submission — perfect for drip sequences, follow-up reminders, or feedback check-ins.
How to add a delay
- 1Open your automation from Dashboard → Automations.
- 2Add a "Wait" step where you want the pause to happen.
- 3Set how long to wait: a number and a unit (minutes, hours, days, or weeks).
- 4Add the email step after it. Everything below the wait happens once the time is up.
The wait sits between steps, so you can put anything after it — a second email, a contact update, or another wait.
Use case examples
- •30-minute follow-up — send a thank-you email with a discount code after a lead form submission.
- •24-hour check-in — ask customers if they have any follow-up questions the day after they submitted a support request.
- •7-day feedback loop — request a review or testimonial one week after a purchase survey.
You can stack multiple delayed automations on the same form to create a simple drip sequence (e.g., Day 1 welcome + Day 3 tips + Day 7 upgrade prompt).
Waiting for something to happen, not for the clock
"Wait for a while" pauses for a fixed length of time. "Wait until" pauses until something becomes true — the contact's status changes to Customer, a field gets filled in. Give it a deadline as well, and a second path off the step for when the deadline passes without it happening. That path is where the "still waiting on you" nudge goes.
A wait with no deadline can sit there forever. The builder flags it as a warning for that reason: set a limit, decide what happens when it runs out.
